Are you under Water?

ree

I spoke to a candidate last week who said that’s exactly how they felt in their job.  Not drowning in work — just slowly sinking under the weight of a culture that no longer fit.

The latest 2024 data backs that up:

32.4% left due to a toxic or negative culture

30.3% cited poor leadership or management

27.7% were unhappy with their direct manager

20.8% left for better work-life balance

20.5% said pay was unsatisfactory

Work Institute’s 2024 report highlights career growth, alignment, environment, health & family as key motivators when people decide to move on.

After years of recruitment through Executive Search, I’ve seen how often people leave not for a better job, but for the chance to breathe again.

That’s also why I built robertpaulevans.com — to help people rebuild their energy, confidence, and direction before making their next move.

People don’t quit for a better title.  They quit when they can no longer breathe where they are.

When culture turns heavy, leadership goes quiet, or growth dries up, even strong swimmers start searching for air.

If that sounds familiar, maybe it’s time to come up for air.
